A. P. State level committee meeting
The A. P. State
Level Committee meeting was held on 9th July, 2005 at St. Ann’s
Generalate, Secunderabad. The meeting discussed the NDF intervention
in the state and to strengthen the State Committees and Districts
Committees. The committee also discussed the Campaign against
atrocities, land issues and private sector reservations.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
A National
level campaign
The National Dalit Forum has spread its network in fifteen
states with the objective of assertion of Dalit processes in all
spheres and empowerment of Dalits in socio, political and economic
activities. The forum has been strengthening its network with the
ideological base of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and his relevance in all
dimensions for the sustenance of Dalits.
The NDF is
organizing National Campaign on issues such as Atrocities Act
,Reservations in private sector and Land Issues. NDF has already
organized campaign in Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and
Maharashtra.
IDSN
Khathmandu conference
NDF has participated in this International event. The International
Dalit Solidarity Network (IDSN) and the Dalit NGO Federation of
Nepal jointly organized an International Consultation on Caste-Based
Discrimination at Kathmandu on 29th November-1st December 2004. It
focused on establishing Dalit Rights in the contemporary world and
the role of Governments, the United Nations and the Private Sector.
The consultation
aimed to explore measures to promote implementation of relevant
laws, regulations, policies and recommendations to eradicate
caste-based discrimination as a key human rights responsibility of
governments, civil society and the international community. Four
thematic areas were covered, i.e.,
RESEARCH AND
STUDIES
The Globalization Study is at the verge of completion. The data
processing is completed. The draft report has to be finalized. A
state level study was undertaken by NDF in Karnataka on “Tobacco
crop and its impact on Dalit Women Health”. Published a paper on the
Impact of education on Dalits and Adivasis by contemporary trends of
the Executive and Judiciary by Justice Ramaswamy, former Justice,
Supreme Court of India. |
