Mainstreaming HIV

Eleven case histories of HIV/AIDS affected people from diversified backgrounds have been documented. The cases were presented in the workshop organized for CWS staff on 28 May 2005. The inputs and suggestions received were duly incorporated.

Solidarity support HIV/AIDS patients through the partner organizations toward their livelihood and treatment

A workshop was organized on 28 May 2005 in Hyderabad for 80 staff members of CWS and CPF and 10 selected partners from AP. The participants were given basic information on HIV/AIDS, Internal and External mainstreaming. They discussed the strategies to mainstream through different development programs. (The participants were given literature.)

Two partners – SWARD in Medak and MARI in Warangal of A.P. were identified for mainstreaming HIV/AIDS. SWARD will mainstream through SHGs, women’s groups, Velugu groups, youth groups etc. MARI would mainstream through Panchayathi Raj Institutions.

A workshop on mainstreaming HIV/AIDS concerns was organized by CWS for SWARD and MARI on 1-3rd September 2005. Presentations were made and discussion held on how to mainstream HIV/AIDS concerns through the development programmes of the organization.

A poster on gender and mainstreaming HIV/AIDS concerns (in English and Telugu) was brought out. A lot of IEC material from APSACS were circulated to partners. In Tamil Nadu, a brochure in Tamil was circulated to partners who were involved in Tsunami rehabilitation. The VIII issue of PR Newsletter contains information on AASHA campaign on the request of APSACS.

CWS staff and sister organizations observed the World AIDS Day on 1st December 2005 at CWS conference hall. The partners of CWS at the district level took Oath to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Mainstreaming HIV/AIDS concerns in Tsunami rehabilitation programme was also started.

Participation in the PIP-NACP–III of NACO
CWS was given the responsibility to prepare a plan for Mainstreaming HIV/AIDS as a convener of the respective group. It was week-long vigorous exercise and the PIP on mainstreaming HIV/AIDS was completed and a copy of the same was submitted to APSACS. An expert team from NACO reviewed and highly appreciated the PIP on mainstreaming HIV/AIDS concerns.
