Banjara Seva Samiti
, Khammam District
Banjara Seva Samiti (BSS) works with Banjara tribe in Garla Mandal
of Khammam district. They work on various issues like land to the
land less, girl child education, creating drinking water facilities
and campaigning against liquor consumption.
Issues dealt with successfully are:
BSS with its consistent efforts were able to secure land to the tune
of 1299 acres in Pulluru revenue village for about 350 Banjara
families.
Banjara Dress Material Training Centre at Anjanapuram thanda was
successful in training 62 banjara women.
BSS is rehabilitating nearly 300 men and women engaged as petty
vendors on railway stations and trains.
Social Education and Voluntary Action,(SEVA) is situated in Warangal
district and works on ‘Environmental awareness and socio economic
development of Dalit women and communities’ in the villages.
SEVA-MFI
Micro Finance is the core activity of SEVA. The program provides
financial and support services to the poor, skilled and unskilled
urban and rural women entrepreneurs like vendors, service providers,
home based producers, artisans and traders.
Vikashavani Swachanda Seva Samstha , Nathavaram, Visakhapatnam
VSSS concentrates its efforts on empowerment of Dalit people through
training on leadership, awareness and capacity building.
Dalit youth are being sensitised on the opportunities available to
them and problems being faced by them. Society to Train and Educate
Peoples Participation in Development, Mahboobnagar.
STEP operational area is in Nawabpet Mandal of Mehboobnagar
District. STEP focuses its activities on Dalit community for their
land rights, legal rights and on the issues of Domestic violence.
Samatha Vidya Vyavasaya Abhivrudhi Sankshema Sangham, East Godavari
SVVASS is working for 30 villages of East Godavari District. It
focuses on the women, Dalit issues and atrocities on women. They
started Mutually aided cooperative Society with a membership of 1700
women and a revolving fund of Rs.20,000.00.
SVVASS also organized a mass rally involving nearly 200 people from
15 villages for the distribution of “Banjaru Bhoomulu”(lands
belonging to the government) and “Lanka Bhoomulu”(land along side
the banks of River) to the landless Dalit peasants.
About 70 pupils who were school dropouts from 8 villages were
identified and sent back to Bridge School. It also established a
training center to train women on Tailoring, Embroidery and Lace
work in Sandhipudi and Vadalarevu village.
Jharkhand
Ambedkar Vichar Munch
Ambedkar Vichar Munch is a network of Dalit organizations and
activists in Jharkhand, working with objective is to spread out the Ambedkar’s thoughts among the Dalits as the means of development and
emancipation, bring the different Dalit sectors on one Platform and
to form Dalit Network, Develop self esteem, self confidence among
them,
BIHAR
Dalit Adhikar Munch
‘Networking for Dalit Empowerment’ programme will be initiated by
PRAYAS, an NGO based in Phulwarisharif, Patna, with the help and
participation of other organizations, institutions and individuals.
Work will be primarily in twelve districts Aurangabad, Vaishali,
Bhojpur, Nawada and Gaya. Issues like Dalit Atrocities, focus on
Dalit leadership, knowledge of Documentation and Information and
Organizational Management will be taken up.
Dalit Women Concerns in Andhra Pradesh
These conferences were conducted by the grass root NGOs who work for
the empowerment of Dalit women.
Partners’ consultation
was held by inviting all the partners from the five states. They
focused on land to landless, Atrocities on Dalits, Dalit women
concerns.
