When the marginalized Dalits are progressing to occupy the space the current economic
changes have become a major set back for their progress and their
livelihood opportunities. The current economic scenarios are not at
all conducive for the progress of the marginalized sections.
The percentage of
Dalits in the software industry especially in Hyderabad is less than
1%. The recent past also has witnessed a great shift from
investments in to the non-agricultural based industries, which have
pushed 60% of the agriculture dependent Dalits to migrate from rural
areas to urban areas in search of livelihoods.
