The program has been initiated in last phase on an experimental
basis, since it emerged as a full fledged programme in CWS,
from August 2005. The programme is implemented by partners and
networks in AP, Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand with a special focus on
girl children. The programme works for children’s rights on
education and their survival and development.
The CWS is supporting a school health programme in urban municipal
schools of Hyderabad.
One of the priorities is identifying child labour in rural areas and
making Panchayats accountable for identifying the same and
mitigating the problem through birth registration, and mainstreaming
them into educational institutions, eradicating the widely prevalent
practice of child marriage, campaigning against the same.
Efforts are also on to produce literature on child rights and
related issues mentioned above and to disseminate them among various
stakeholders.
Child Rights programme also work with various state level networks
in identifying the children’s concerns like, eradicating child
labour (ILO-IPEC), child sexual abuse, halting child marriages. |
