Central library:
About 300 books of Adivasi Dalit Bahujan literature were
identified and purchased. The centre provides Library reading space,
comfortable environment and some basic philosophical and
methodological training on daily basis for readers.
Festival of Ideas Bodhi Cultural Programme:
BODHI has organised Festival of Ideas BODHI cultural programme on
10th July 2005. Bodhi youth committee members actively participated.
Around 176 youth committee members from 151 villages, 25 research
scholars, students and other Adivasi Dalit Bahujan activists
participated.
OUTCOMES
The BYC has been conducting “Jayanthis” (birthdays) and
“Vardhanthis” (death anniversaries) of eminent personalities like
Mahatma Joti Rao Phule, Periyar, Narayanaguru, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar,
Komurambheem, Savithribai Phule, and Phulan Devi etc..
BODHI COVERAGE
BODHI libraries are located in 151 Villages of 76 Mandals of 5
Districts. 22 NGOs, 1 CBO, and many Dalitbahujan activists are
associated with them.
Youth are writing letters to leading local dailies and magazines for
situations that need to be addressed. Bodhi is also receiving the
letters from youth committees.

Celebrating the local feasts, Sahapakthibhojanalu (common dining)
and Vanabhojanalu
They are conducting small studies on total number of youth,
unemployment, school dropouts, population figures of Dalits, BCs,
STs in the village etc. The dropouts identified thus are sent back
to the school.
One Bodhi youth committee in Nalgonda had collected funds to build a
community hall worth Rs 90,000 with the help of Fr. Rafill,
Sanjeevani trust, Mallepally and Sramadhanam. The community hall now
houses Bodhi library. Bodhi is also participating in CWS convergence
and 4 NGOs.
Number of youth utilizing the library facilities per day
The total number of members are 2588 in 151 BYCs. They include 459
BCs, 686 Dalits, 137 Adivasis, 62 Muslims including 260 girls. It is
estimated that around 2588 readers are utilizing these libraries per
day. |
