Bodhi
 

BODHI works towards changing the attitude of SC, ST and OBCs. BODHI makes a serious effort to help the humiliated castes to overcome the negative self-condemnatory attitudes within themselves. This Centre locates the Dalitbahujan writings, encourages new writings to be taken up and all such writings will be popularized among masses. A 9-member advisory committee and Board of Trustees drawn from academic, activist and social work background was formed under the leadership of Prof. Kancha Ilaiah.

VISION

The BODHI centre aims to change the inhuman, unequal and negative values working against the Dalit Bahujans. In general the Centre will promote positive human values for all. At the same time, it will have a special focus to promote and work to protect the human rights of Adivasis Dalit Bahujans for their self-respect.

BODHI has undertaken following activities this year.

Identification of Bodhi youth committees:
The village youth have formed in to Bodhi youth committees in each village with seven as members of SC, ST and OBCs. They provide separate space for Bodhi libraries.

Bodhi Youth Committees:
Bodhi has formed 274 youth committees (BYC). The committees were formed with the help of local NGOs, Dalitbahujan activists, and Ambedkar Yuvajana Sanghas in Medak, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Nalgonda, Warangal, Chittoor and other districts.

Meetings with Likeminded NGOs and activists:
BODHI organized several meetings with NGOs, CWS Partner groups and Non-partner groups, individuals, Dalit Bahujan organizations, Ambedkar Yuvajana Sanghas(AYS), other local youth organizations, academicians, social activists, Research scholars, and students in Warangal, Nalgonda, Medak, Hyderabad and other districts of A.P.

BODHI libraries: Established
Till July 2005 BODHI has established 151 libraries in 151 villages of Warangal Nalgonda, Medak, Ranga Reddy and Khammam districts, around 76 Mandals were covered. The readership is slowly increasing. BODHI has conducted one BODHI Youth Training programme. For Medak Bodhi youth committee members. One member from each village participated in the programme, where BODHI established libraries in Medak district.

Youth Training Programme was organized by BODHI on 9th July 2005 at St.John’s Regional Seminary, Ramanthapur, Hyderabad. Around 46 BODHI Youth Committee members participated.
